After editing this issue, I’ve come to the realization that all the journalists in this issue love the month of May for one reason or another, myself included. Wise Guy Brant Croucher loves it for Cinco de Mayo (check out his español, it’s pretty good for a gringo); Beatrice loves it for the same reason I do – the weather. May is one of the most glorious months we have in Houston. Spring is most definitely in the air and there’s a calendar full of outdoor events that you should take advantage of. From baseball games to Discovery Green’s activities to lunch on one of the many patios throughout town. Fresh air will do you good!

Speaking of entertainment, no doubt you noticed the talented Chris Botti on our cover. Botti was recently in Houston and we had the opportunity to talk to the awarded trumpeter. Ryan Clark gets the dirt on the latest trend of myspace musicians making it on their own. He catches the Hotel Café Tour on its stop in Houston.

In world-breaking entertainment news, the end of this month sees the premier of the film Sex & the City. I chatted with David Eigenberg (Miranda’s boyfriend Steve on Sex) recently and left the conversation, well, charmed. He’ll be the guest at the Planned Parenthood Kick-off taking place on May 9.

Evan Garza visits with John Alexander whose work opens at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and is not to be missed! We also shoot for the stars in a conversation with Barry Stone on his latest installation for BBAP. And David Addickes’ statuesque heads grace a freeway on your way downtown, turn to page 54 to find out where.

Don’t miss our final installation of Party Animals at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center on May 3, 3 – 5pm. It’s Hounds and Hulas, so get your four-legged friend on a short leash, grab $8 if you’re a member (if you’re not, grab $10 plus your checkbook to become one) and support this oasis in the heart of the city!)

June is our wedding issue, a Juliska (tableware) representative will be on-hand for a trunk show May 9 & 10 at Neiman Marcus. Their stuff is so beautiful! Go see Katherine to help you set up your registry at Neiman’s.
